Embracing Failure - Your ultimate Coach
Thomas A Edison once quoted “ I have not failed, I have just found 10,000 ways it won’t work.
I have failed many times in business, relationships, projects and sport, just periods of my life in general.
I didn’t I also wouldn’t say I was jumping for joy in embracing failure the way I would now.
When we demonise failure, our brains' safety mechanism set into the human psyche kicks in, all it wants to do is keep us safe.
We will look for every excuse in the book to stay in that comfort zone.
We want to feel safe…
What I have learned is that I can perceive failure in two ways, and each perception will land me on a different page of lifes ‘pick a path’ book.
I have experienced both paths, and I know which one has served me better as a dude looking to make the most of his limited time on this planet.
Perceiving failure in a negative light did little for my self-esteem and set me off on a sulky, little bi^$h mindset.
You'll provoke feelings of low self worth, probably because you are embarrassed by what people think of you,
The reality is, if it’s someone that really matters in your life, they will be your biggest cheerleader no matter the result.
Perceive failure in a positive light and all of a sudden you have a list of ways not to do something and a clearer idea on how it might be done.
Failure has just become your ultimate coach.
Caveat. There are those that are quite happy in the comfort zone, and that is quite alright. But I am picking that if you are reading this blog and following this journey, you are looking for the cool shit on the other side of safe, to quote Will Smith.
